Schoolgirl

Yesterday while I was at CVS, I came to the realization that school starts in a little over a month for me.  Which was kind of a sobering thought, to say the least.  It seems as though all the stores put out their back-to-school supplies approximately one week after school gets out for the summer (which i can never understand, anyway.  who wants to go back-to-school shopping in the middle of summer??).  So in spirit of all that, here's a schoolgirl-inspired look for ya!  The blue crop top felt a little too open for me to not wear anything under it, so I layered a white peter pan collar blouse underneath it and somehow a schoolgirl look evolved from that.  Oh and these sunglasses?  They're stolen from my dad.  I love wearing them because they make me look cooler than I actually am... ha.

A few of you have asked that I post more about my running, so here it goes!  If you follow me on Twitter, you know that yesterday my dad, mom, and I ran the SF marathon (only the half marathon though, not the full marathon; we're not that hardcore... yet!).  I'm super proud of my dad... this was his first half marathon and he did amazing!  He said he's 90% sure he's going to do it again next year!
This was the 5th half marathon my mom and I have run (the first one being two years ago).  My mom set a PR (personal record) for herself, and I placed 3rd in my age division out of 53.  It's an incredible feeling to run alongside so many people from all over the world.  It's also incredibly cool to be able to run right in the middle of the streets of San Francisco, since all the roads are blocked off for runners.  I mean, come on, when else are you going to be able to do that??

The best part about running any race is the next day you can do absolutely positively nothing and not feel guilty about it!  Needless to say, today is a complete and utter personal day, full of reading (i'm currently reading the secret life of bees) and watching the Olympics with my family.

House snaps

Just some snapshots around the house.  I have a propensity for taking random pictures around the house throughout the day.  Not all is lost, though, because I can share it with you guys, right?  See, the benefits of blogging are endless!

July is flying by much too fast for my liking... this weekend, the fam and I are running the SF half marathon.  It's my dad's first half marathon, so it should be a mixture of nervousness/excitement.

Also, my new blog layout is coming along quite nicely!  If all goes according to schedule, it should launch late August.  I've been in contact with some very lovely folks and it looks like we're going to have some regular columns/contributors here on the blog!  I'm so excited!!  Don't forget to shoot me an email if you have any suggestions :)

Viola Cangi

I've been playing more with my Polaroid camera as of late... I took a bunch of pictures last week and the week before that, but unfortunately I had my camera on the wrong setting and most of the pictures came out super overexposed :/  For now, here are some from the batch that didn't get messed up.  I get a kick out of the fourth one.  Of all the places for the film to have a random imperfection, it had to be right over my face.  Ha.  But it does look kinda cool in an abstract way, I suppose!

This girl seriously takes DIY to the next level.  Just check out this adorable 1950's swimsuit she made!  Major skills.  I must admit, I'm a little envious.

A fruit picking we will go

As I mentioned on Wednesday, the fam I went fruit picking last weekend at Tachella Family Farms.  Peach picking, to be exact.  The weather was perfect... not too hot, not too cold.  Just right.  Perfect summer weather.  It seems like July is flying by much too quick for my liking (already august soon!) and I'm sad to see the summer going by so fast.  Poo.  But it makes me cherish days like these all the more.

Buttercup

I got this dreamy delight of a bag from Audrey Grace a few weeks ago and I don't really think it's left my shoulder since. Now you wouldn't expect yellow to match with a lot of things, but I've found that it's just the pop of color I need to accent my outfits. Plus the bag is HUGE, so I can throw in a bunch of stuff and run out the door, no problem. PS. Totally have Build Me Up Buttercup stuck in my head now after writing this post :)
