Travel lust: Croatia
A few years ago, my photography teacher went to Croatia.  And she came back saying it was the most beautiful place she had ever been.  Looking at these photos of Croatia from Dani Padgett, I can definitely see why.  I mean that last picture?  I can't imagine living in a place so beautiful.

Stripes!

Stripes
Maybe it's the inner prep in me (i am from connecticut, after all... hello new england), but I've got a thing for stripes.  One of my favorite default outfits is to wear my fave navy blue striped shirt tucked into some high-waisted pants or a skirt (case in point: here).  I've actually worn that shirt so much, it's starting to tear at the armpit, heh.  I just got this dress from J. Crew, which I am very happy about.  Slowly but surely, my closet is being invaded by stripes.  Do you wear stripes too?

When I first saw these shots by Shelbie Dimond for Lily L's spring summer 2012 collection, I was immediately reminded of film stills.  Film stills from Picnic at Hanging Rock, to be exact (even though i haven't actually seen the movie! i must do that soon).  Shelbie Dimond is a Bay Area photographer who works primarily with film.  I love it when I find talented artists from my corner of the world.

According to Lily's website, this is just a preview of more loveliness to come (including a short film!) in August 2012.  I can't wait to see the full launch of her collection.

The Nimbus Factory

The Nimbus Factory Have you heard of The Nimbus Factory? I first discovered them last week at shopSCAD, where I came across their adorable line of tote bags and promptly looked them up online. The Nimbus Factory is an "Uncommonly charming design boutique featuring illustrative design services, paper goods, and home decor products."

The "Beautiful Day" tote bag has quickly become my one of my faves!  (you can see me wearing it here)

A combined effort of artists, Phyllis Sa, Claire Teschel, Julia Kuo, and Emily Dove, their cute designs graphics have kept me smiling all day long.  I mean, how is it NOT possible to smile at these sweet little creations?

At the beginning of spring, my friend Emma visited up from LA.  We spent an afternoon taking pictures by the cherry blossoms (which sadly are no more!).  This time I played 'model,' which was fun for a change.  I can't wait for next month, when Emma will be home for the summer and we can go on many, many more photo adventures xx

PS.  You can see more photos from this shoot on Emma's flickr.

Let me start off by saying how incredible are these dollhouses from Young House Love and Mousehouse?  Fully furnished with tables, pictures, wallpaper (orla kiely wallpaper no less!), and electricity... there are some pretty pretty lucky kiddos out there to have dollhouses like these to play with (and parents who make them for them).  Be still my beating heart.

Savannah/SCAD

Savannah
My family and I were only in Savannah for two days, but man oh man, we packed in a lot of stuff.  My dad has a few clients in the Savannah/Atlanta area and my mom's mom lives in Florida, so the trip pretty much served three purposes: visit clients, visit family, and visit SCAD.  Now we didn't do alllll that in three days; my mom went to Florida a week ahead, then met my dad and me in Savannah.  Then, my dad left Savannah early for Atlanta, while my mom and I and stayed in Savannah an extra day and went home on our own.  Then, my dad flew back on his own later that same day.  And now we're all here together again in one place and it feels like it never happened.  Confused yet? :)

Savannah, of course was so pretty (like everybody says it is).  It's old and historic and beautiful.  People say it's a walking city.  And it's true.  There's something about it that makes you just want to walk and take pictures.  And everyone's so nice there; they smile at you when they pass by.  Imagine that.  People smiling at strangers.  Crazy stuff.

And as far as SCAD, I'm pretty much sold on it as far as college goes.  I mean, I kinda have to be.  I'm going there come next fall.  And I must admit I'm pretty darn excited about it :)  It's one of those things that if you think about it too much, you get so happy you can hardly sit still.

HI!  Remember me?  It seems like AGES since I posted anything on this blog, even though it's only been a few days.  I just got back from Savannah last night (a little later than planned because our flight was a few hours delayed - not fun!)

I have to go through the pictures I took in Savannah and I'll pop back probably later today, or else tomorrow with a thorough recap of Savannah/visiting SCAD/etc.

Hope your week has been going swell!

Merry happy
Just popping in real quick to say hello.  HELLO!  I'm off to Savannah to visit the SCAD campus (where i'll be attending school next year; via elearning though, not on campus).  I'll probbabbllyy not be blogging till mid next week, so have a happy weekend AND an early next week!

This photograph by Richard Truscott pretty much sums up my enthusiasm for summer at the moment.
