Film with Sonja

Thursday, August 23, 2012
Last week I blogged about the Polaroids I took with Sonja.  Now here are the film shots we took together.  Sonja showed me how I could take pictures with self-timer on my camera (something i never knew i could do!), so we had a bit of fun with that.  You learn a new thing every day, I tell you.

On a more solemn note, the camera store where I get my film developed recently raised their prices, which makes me very sad.  I think it may be time for me to figure out how to make my own darkroom.  Does anyone here develop their own film?

Fantastic photos, I really love the first one, the way the light illuminates her hair is just magical. I've looked into having my own darkroom and it's quite expensive, mostly the chemicals because you need a lot even for a single roll and the conditions have to be just right. I just joined my university's photography club and they have a darkroom and it's 10 bucks for a yearly pass and then free developing to my heart's content.

My Mr has been developing film in our bathroom for years. You don't even need a darkroom, just a change bag. Its incredibly cheap is relatively easy to do.

You can get colour developing kits for around $40 which are good for 20 rolls, Black and White developing kits are even cheaper.

Its a good idea to do a few test rolls first just to get the hang of it. Can't wait to see more of your lovely film photography!

Nice shots, it's such a shame when that happens and there are barely any places that do it anymore so you just have to wear it. Maybe make friends with someone with a darkroom??
