On our third in Hawaii, we went to Lahaina. We started the morning off with brunch at Kihei Caffe, per my friend Beth (and yelp’s) suggestion. They put crushed macadamia nuts on their pancakes/French toast/waffles, etc. I thought this topping was unique to Kihei Caffe until I saw other breakfast eateries offering it too, so I guess it’s just a popular Hawaiian thing? But ummm… HELLO YUMMINESS! How had I not known about this before? I am totally going to try this at home.
I love this row of colorful shops in Lahaina:
Anyway. Moving on...
On our fourth day, we signed up for a luau that night, so we mainly hung around the hotel and looked at shops. My dad bought a hat that I thought made him look quite dapper, so we went to take blog pictures by the beach.
My dad, being all debonair and model-y by the beach (channeling somewhat of a jason mraz character...)
The luau was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re ever in Hawaii, you absolutely, positively MUST do a luau, even if luaus aren’t your thing, but I can’t imagine you’d know if luaus are your thing or not because how many people have actually been to a luau? And if you already have, then I guess you're already more cultured than me ;) The way the night sky illuminated the stage was, for lack of a better word, amazing. Annnndd for dinner, they also had a wide variety of vegetarian food options for their little veggie friend ♥ (although i had a mighty scare when i almost ate some sneaky seafood hiding in my pasta). What can I say? Amazing. Also gave new meaning to and made me really want to re-watch Lilo and Stitch.
