Lately I've been...
Lately I've been...
Well it's Friday again and I hope your week was good. And if it wasn't? Well it's Friday and the week is almost behind us, so that's good ;) I'm still in LA, but leave later today. It was a short trip, but I'm ready to go home; I miss SF.

I took these pictures when the lighting in my hotel room was the most lovely. I love how such a simple thing as the way light is shining through a window can make ordinary things beautiful.

Lately I've been...
... meeting inspiring bloggers and friends
... playing with my new (and first!) Polaroid camera (and making a mess out of my first roll of film...)
... procrastinating on homework (eek!)
... exploring LA in general

What have you been doing lately?

I am head over heels in love with the new Orla Kiely shop in New York that's just opened. I stumbled upon these photos on their Facebook page the other day and I am dying a little inside; it looks like a real life dollhouse.

Blogging from an airplane...

Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Hello folks! Happy Wednesday to you!

First off, I'm not actually blogging from an airplane, I'm blogging from the airport (i just thought airplane sounded more glamorous, like pan am glamorous... does anyone watch that show?). There's nothing glamorous about an airport. Anyway. I'm off to LA in a few hours and how else to celebrate than with these wonderful LA-spirited images? They're a few years old from the Wildfox Couture Resort 2010 collection and you've probably seen them already, but I love them just the same. I can only hope to look half as glamorous as Miss Tiernan Cowling does in these pictures...

I've got a new girl crush: Miss Cara Dawson is my latest style love. If her blog is any indication of her real-life personality, I'd say she's a mighty lovely lady. I love these photos of Cara by Vanessa Jackman for Grazia.it. Can I please have her entire wardrobe (and that bunny)? Pretty please?

Laura of The World Looks Red is one of my favorite fashion bloggers to date (i actually blogged about her back in february). I am completely in love the latest pictures she posted of her home. It seems that her sense of style transcends fashion; her home is equally as impeccable as her daily outfits. I love the rolling rack and hanging dresses (and pretty much every last detail)... gives me much inspiration for my room! Pretty, pretty

Lately I've been...
Hello and happy Friday folks! Whhaa Friday? How is it Friday already...? Not complaining though; Friday and I, we've always been pals ;)

My LA trip is coming up and I've been scurrying around, making arrangements and getting things together last minute. I'm looking forward to escaping the coolish weather here and getting some good ol' sunshine for a few days. I also just found out that Ellen von Unwerth has an exhibition going on in LA while I'm down there. I'm excited.

Lately I've been...
... preparing for my 3rd half marathon run Sunday
... completely enamored by Tim Walker's newest series for Vogue Italia
... organizing my bookcase
... packing for LA (yes, i'm one of those people who packs a week ahead of time)
... picking out a color to paint my room (i'm leaning towards this color)
... itching to create

What have you been doing lately?

(Lately I've been... is a new Friday column. Feel free to join in!)

Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay
Last week, the fam and I took a trip to Half Moon Bay. The weather was overcast and rainy, which I think added all the more so to the autumn atmosphere. Plus, it gave me an opportunity to don my favorite blue tights + socks combo for the first time this season. I'm so excited to be able to layer more with the cooler weather.

In the end, we went to the beach and got completely soaked... it was kind of fun ;)

I love day trips like this with the fam... all too often we get caught up in everyday life; it's kinda nice, all three of us together plus the dog.

Their Spanish Steps dress is a dream of a dress and I'm so excited they're giving it away to one of you readers (i'd actually like one for myself; just sayin'). Just reading the description makes me swoon:

"Some things are just better together: peanut butter and chocolate, Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, Rome and Vespas. We decided to pair two things we love—the soft, cotton jersey of our favorite t-shirt, and the gorgeous sateen of the dresses of yesteryear—to create the Spanish Steps, an indispensably comfortable-yet-elegant summer frock."

Well... that's enough from me folks. The rest is up to YOU!

3 WAYS TO ENTER:
  • Follow Shabby Apple over on their Facebook page, then leave a comment on this post.

I did some serious jaw dropping when I came across Lori Nix's work. At first, I thought these were all images of abandoned buildings (which would be pretty cool in itself)... until I clicked on her 'about' page and realized that these are all models specifically constructed to be photographed. Ahhh so cool.

Maybe it's my mom's recent purchase of her owl scarf, but I've been in a major owl mood as of late. I've always had a thing for owls (i attribute it to numerous episodes of winnie the poo) and I am completely fascinated by the versatility of these little guys... I mean acorn owls? Genius! I am totally rounding up some little kids and doing this craft project with them ;) And that wallpaper? Too good.

I'm also on the lookout for a nice owl print shirt (or any article of clothing, actually), so keep your eyes peeled for me :)
