I've always wanted to live in a house with a little cottage in my backyard. One of my childhood friends had a 'playhouse' (which was actually a fancy word for a fancy shed), and I remember asking my mom 'why don't we have a playhouse like that?!'. We don't have a yard right now, but perhaps sometime I will get my dream cottage. Here are some swoon-worthy cottages around the world. I am drooling!

Oh wow, they're all so pretty!
During college I lived in a "play house" in the backyard of my landlord's house. It was absolutely darling. We had jasmine growing everywhere and a floral archway to enter our household. I miss that cottage... In fact, I'd much rather live there (or in a cottage like it) than anywhere else in the world! :)

I'm surprised you didn't include this dream cottage that New York Times did a slideshow on. It's gorgeous! I love that it's all white and her personal sanctuary.

I love these. My parents have a small house-shaped shed in their backyard, and I'm trying to get them to let me redecorate it in a cute style similar to these (needs repainting anyway, so why not?) Wish it had been there when I was growing up!
We have a little boathouse-style garage in our back yard that we've been talking about turning into a guest cottage for the last 10-or-so years...maybe some day :) It's fun to dream! Thanks for posting this! So inspiring. Love your blog.
