NYC

(photos of nyc in the rain from my recent trip)

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. I can't describe it other than that it was unlike anything I've ever read in my entire life. Everything that happened in the book seemed the opposite of what was expected to happen, and yet somehow it felt right. It was more of an experience than just a story... I laughed until I cried, I cried until I laughed... Jonathan Safran Foer is pretty much a genius. Annd now I'm off to read his other books :) Read anything good, lately?

PS. Anyone catch my Regina Spektor reference? :)

I could't descibe it better myself. It is the most amazing book I've EVER read, and I was so sad when I finished it. I wanted more. I just bought it in English (I read it in Danish), and I can't wait to read it again.

The pictures are so melancholic, I love it when it rains! I wonder if I ever get to NYC. I would really love to...so if I start saving now, maybe I'll be able to get there for my retirement, hehe :)
The book you described sounds really great, never heard of it, but definitely going to check it out. I had a similar feeling about Haruki Murakami's "Kafka on the Shore" - just epic. :)

Oh I definitely have that on my list of to-reads. I haven't been into reading that much lately which makes me sad because I'm such a fan of reading and books in general. So I must change this. I'm currently trying to read Devil in the White City since I live in Chicago. It's really good I just haven't been making much of an effort to sit down and read it since i"m not riding hte train every day anymore. Sigh. This might just change my mind. Happy weekend!

And knowing that you listen to her music, is one more reason to read your awesome blog!

Oh, and since you're asking about books. Have you read the Hunger Games? It's a reeeally weird book, but everyone I know that has read it (which is about 15 people) loved it! It's a series of 3 books, you should check them out.

Oh thank you so much for the book reference, great pics, really lovely.
Ammm, the last book I really enjoyed was...Anima Mundi by Susanna Tamaro, some of my friends referred to it as depressing (as I read a few paragraphs to them), but what do they know...anyways I love reading it because it sort of paints a picture in detail, and presents to you this man's perception of the world, for me one of the best books I've ever read.

Great blog.

Ahhh it makes me so happy to see these photos!! I went to school right there at NYU!! My best friend and I would walk around there every day during our breaks between classes- it was so much fun! Even in the rain, it looks so pretty and chic...

I've never read that book before, but any book that is that powerful is definitely a good one.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is one of my FAVORITE books also... You MUST read The History of Love by Nicole Krauss (who happens to be JSF's wife... but supposedly wrote the book without influence from her husband before they'd even met) They both have a quite similar style. The History of Love is equally brilliant and incredible!!!!

It is one of my favourite books ever! You need to read Everything is Illuminated, also by JSF, also amazing. And History of Love by his wife Nicole Krauss is very similar and also magnificent. xx

I just got the book for Christmas and can't wait to begin reading it. If you love NYC, you should read New York a good historical fiction book on the city, and not a bore either!
