Rus Anson is pretty amazing. I discovered her work a few weeks ago and I just love it. She makes these unbelievable, whimsical sets to create beautiful stories with strong concepts behind them.

Issue Four of Unicorn/Dream Magazine is now out and my editorial is in it! If you haven't heard of Unicorn/Dream Magazine, it's pretty much the dreamiest-to-the-max magazine you can ever find. This particular issue has introduced me to a few photographers I've never heard of and includes an interview with lovely blogger (and one of the first blogs i started regularly reading) Betsey of Una Bella Vita.

Snowy days are here again

Snowy days are here again
Snowy days are here again
(photos by russetplait)

I used to live where it snows. I remember snowmen and sledding and snowball fights... having ambitions to build a huge, great igloo, but never being able to get the ceiling to stop caving in. I remember snow angels and catching snowflakes on your tongue and rolling in the snow until bits and pieces slipped into your boots and under your gloves and you would have to go inside to change into fresh, warm clothes.

All my loving

Thursday, December 16, 2010
I've been wanting to share this photoshoot I did for a long time now; months, in fact. I photographed this fashion editorial about 6 months ago, but I couldn't release any of the photos as I was trying to get the photos picked up by a magazine. And I'm happy to announce that they were! So I can't release all the photos just yet, (only the ones that didn't make it into the mag) but here's a little sample...

I am in love with this video by Ginesta Guindal for designer Massimo Dutti (you may remember me blogging about her before). So pretty and I love the hanging mobile of jewelry. Wouldn't mind having a mobile like that hanging over my bed ;)

It's people like Twig Hutchinson that have me conjuring up dreams to become a prop stylist, after looking through all the collective pretties in her online portfolio. (not to mention she's also done collaborations with one of my favorite fashion labels - toast). It's one of those things that you think, 'Wow, that would be such a awesome job!' but it doesn't go much farther than that. Maybe it will. I don't know. But for now, enjoy Twig's amazing portfolio here.

I washed a horse.

Monday, December 13, 2010
Yesterday, I had my biggest photoshoot ever. And it was kind of amazing... 10 1/2 hours long in total! I can't give away many details yet, but I can tell you that there was a horse involved. And Friday, I helped wash the horse.
I washed a horse.
I thought the horse would be more sensitive about a stranger (me) washing her, but she was very calm and sweet.

She may or may not have farted a few times while I was cleaning her tail ;)

A few weeks ago, I did a little photoshoot with Nicole. We wandered the streets of San Francisco early in the morning, so early that we actually had to wait for the sun to rise over the tall buildings. You may have seen Nicole on Thrifted.net, Modcloth, as well as on her own personal blog, Ophelia Olive. She was such a pleasure to work with... so sweet and definitely one of the best models I have ever worked with. I have a few more ideas for future collaborations with Nicole up my sleeve, so hopefully there will be more to come :)

PS. My photography website is coming very, very soon and I couldn't be more excited :)

PPS. Happy, happy weekend to you all!
