Styling project with Tea Collection

Friday, October 29, 2010
A few weeks ago, San Francisco based apparel company, Tea Collection, contacted me about a blogger styling project. I was to pick out my favorite items from their shop and show how I would style them on my blog. And of course any excuse to do a photoshoot is an instant win in my book :) I got my favorite little model to do a photoshoot with me at a lake near where we both live. Here are the results...

Tea Collection specializes in modern, design driven children’s and (very recently) women’s clothing. Tea was started in 2002 by two amazing women, Emily and Leigh, and has grown into a nationally recognized company in just eight years. Their clothes are so well-made with exquisite patterns. I found myself looking through the girl's clothing, longing for some sort of machine to turn the garments into my size... alas. They are so cute and perfect for the wee little ones in your life. Makes for some very very stylish kiddos :)

Anyway, I hope you like my outfit picks, styling job, and photography! I know I sure enjoyed this project :) Check out Tea Collection for more cute designs.

Pretty (detachable) collars

Thursday, October 28, 2010
I love a little collar to spice up an outfit. Always have, always will. (the lace ones are the best, if you ask me!) Ha, I'm such a girl :) But there's nothing wrong with that, right?

Introducing: Wee People

Jemma of Free People emailed me about Free People's newest addition: Wee People, a children's collection. As a sucker for anything cute and girly, I am a firm believer that anything pint-sized is 10 times cuter than regular size. Wouldn't you agree?
Wee People
"The collection captures the spirit of the free people girl in her earliest stages, when fairy tales are real and imagination knows no boundaries. Whimsical party dresses to release her inner princess and cozy items with free people’s unique details and elements to make her feel as special as she is."

Wee People
Wee People will debut online and in Free People's November catalog, which drops November 2nd. I'm excited to see one of my favorite clothing labels be translated into children's apparel.

Thank you, Jemma for the little sneakity peak!

When we were younger

Just some pretty pictures I've come across the web these days...

I am so into this kind of bokeh effect right now, even though it's a different kind of bokeh - not the usual dots in the background, it's sort of more texture-y than that. Is there a special name for it? Reminds me of impressionism...

In other news, I have a very special photo shoot today in which I am very excited. I'm going to use entirely film and I just hope my concepts translate nicely into the photographs... heh. I can't wait to share with you the final results!

Fly away with me and I...
I love this 'travel with me' inspired dessert bar made by Jennifer and Marie of Sweets Indeed and found via Sweet Designs.

Looks like it should be for a wedding or engagement party, but it's actually for a kids' party I think, ooh la la (there must be some very very stylish kids attending a party like this)!

Dreamwalkers
I am madly in love with these two photos by Marlene Marino. The second shot is one of my absolute favorite photographs ever (and the first one is quickly becoming a favorite too). Shot on location in Japan, they were for the Urban Outfitters Early Spring 2010 catalog. Urban Outfitters really does have some of the best catalogs, don't you think?

Art she said
A few days ago, I came across this project called The Smartest Thing She's Ever Said, sponsored by Ann Taylor.
Art she said
The object of this site is to provide an open platform for a selection of artists and writers to create. The artists create visual images that go together with the writers' prose, making a story.
Art she said
"There are four teams composed of one artist and a writer, two posts a day, three weeks per team, one theme: The Smartest Thing She Ever Said."

We talked about blogging and websites and other nonsense over our cups of tea and then walked around Chinatown and took pictures and she took me to this amazing vintage store.

Another use for books
Ann sent me the link to this post on her blog after seeing my post of this photo shoot a while's back. I am giddily in love with using pages of old books as wallpaper (and i thought books were only for reading... ha!) and I loved seeing the process behind it all.

I would love nothing more than to have a wall like this in my own bedroom - I just don't think I'd have the heart to destroy a book. Do any of you lovelies have wallpaper made from pages of old books?
