...the key to my heart. (not really, but if it was, i'd want it to look just as pretty ;) )

There's something about skeleton keys that, in all their vintage goodness, have a certain elegance about them. Maybe it's their intricate patterns, maybe it's their delicate bodies. Maybe it's the fact that each one is slightly different. Whatever it is, I am a fan. A big fan.

I adore old keys! They wear made in a far more ornate way than keys today: have been known to wear them as a diy necklace. Quite into old watch faces now as well.

my mom found a ring of old keys in my great aunts basement when she was cleaning it out and gave them to me because i love them so much.
old keys are so fascinating, trying to imagine what they unlock!

i adore these photos so much. thanks for sharing!

I think they represent a different time where things were, just like the keys, more delicate, more beautiful, more intricate.

Beautiful, inspirational post.
I like this use of keys. Makes me want to go out to variety of vintage and second hand grab stores and find some, just because they can look so . . .pretty . .

I love keys like this. Amazingly, the ke to our apartment is a beautiful key like this, and all the cupboards have little, beautiful keys.

I absolutely love your key collection!
I am always searching for new sources for antique skeleton keys to use in my work- where did you find these?

yes, I agree with you! They make you feel like it's a link to the past, and they're so much more ornate and intricate than modern keys, plus it's a mystery what they once unlocked!
