Let's take a ride

Wednesday, August 4, 2010
It makes me quite sad that bicycles are so underrated-at least in the US they are. Wouldn't it be neat if rush hour looked like this?

Now if I can just get my hands on some bikes like these:
Let's take a ride
Let's take a ride
Let's take a ride
I've never ridden a bike on the beach before. It seems both fun and difficult!
Let's take a ride
Let's take a ride

These pictures are so beautiful! i was just admiring the bikes you can hire in Paris for as long as you like last week and thinking about what a wonderful thing it would be to have everywhere!

My bike looks like the one on the first picture! I can't imagine using another way of transport (well, if it's raining I can...)!

@Floddertje: That's awesome! I wish we used bikes more as a means of transportation here in the states. That was one thing that really stuck out to me when I visited Europe a few years ago.

There's nothing better than a bike with a basket!! :)

@ Melissa Blake: and flowers in the basket!

I feel the same. I have a great bike, even though it's a little bit rusted, but it's so impractical where I live because the roads/sidewalks are not bike friendly at all.

Everyone should own a bike and try to use it as often as possible. It's cheap, healthy and good for the environment. :)
And if more people use the streets and sidewalks with their bikes the cities are forced to provide a safe environment for bikers.

Thank you for posting pretty pictures. In Denmark everybody is riding a bike... ;) This is my sister riding a bike home from the beach... ;) http://bylisi.blogspot.com/2010/07/down-hill.html

I wish I used my bike more! It's super comfortable but unfortunately not very pretty. I may spray paint her one colour to neaten things up a bit & maybe add a cute basket (:

I ride my bike almost every day :)
I've ridden on the beach a few times, it's pretty cool!

Wow I wish America was like that. I can imagine larger cities where everything is more close together being like that, but on the outskirts of Houston it'd be quite difficult...

Oh, how perfect! Since I'm going to Davis in the fall, my parents just bought me a bicycle... And it arrives tomorrow!!! I can't wait for it to come; I'll definitely have to post pictures. :) I wish, too, that America had a big bicycle culture as other countries do.. But did you know that Davis is the bicycle city of America? It's an amazing sight to see all of the bicycles around town, as they dominate the transportation there.. You posted beautiful pictures, as always. :) And the Renegade Craft Fair looked like such fun! I'll definitely have to attend it next year!!

Hoping you are well,
Anh.

@A Little Yellow Button: Oh fun! I never knew that about Davis... never been there either but that definitely makes me want to go.

I can't wait to buy myself a bike. I love them. And as I am petrified of driving, I don't see a cuter option...

I've just moved to Berlin, and it seems like everyone cycles here! It's such a breezy, beautiful way to get around; you always feel so much more invigorated when you get somewhere.

I've just recently decorated my bike, so she is adorned with flowers...

And after blogging about her (her name is Esmerelda!), I've realised how often she features in my blogs! Is it weird to love a bicycle?

I like the last picture best, makes me want to ride my own bicycle, though mine is not as pretty as these ^^'
I wish more people would ride bicycles, but I also wish that people would wear helmets as well :\ If only they made helmets that were as pretty as these bicycles...

I have ridden a bike on the beaches of Kiawa Island, South Carolina last summer... it's always easy one way, and very, very exhausting the other (what with all the wind).

I honestly love bike riding, I wish that I could ride to stores and to friends houses, but distance and car traffic and safety does not permit that :/

ooh i want that first one!
i am so in love with bikes yet i don't have one and never feel the need to ride one. i can't imagine that rush hour but i'd be happy to be a part of it!

This is a great post :) I love the bike photos, but more than anything the video from the Netherlands! The town I live in now is not very bike friendly, but I ride anyways! I cant wait to move in December to a much more bike friendly town!
