My grandma's attic

Thursday, July 8, 2010
I've noticed I have quite a bit of handmade items in my home, whether it be from Etsy, or made by me, so I figured 'Hey, why not share?'

So these are the handmade items of my home:
My grandma's attic
tile by me (recognize the photo?). headband by blooming leopold. necklace by flavanilla.
My grandma's attic
coffee sack owl (i've named him howard!) by tialys. card by me.
My grandma's attic
books by me, for school projects.
My grandma's attic
tiles by me.

So those are some of the things I've made (to all who have been asking to see some of my craft projects)

I've been seriously thinking about making these tiles for my shop (which is currently closed), but then shipping would be pretty pricey since they are a bit heavy. Thoughts?

Those tiles are delightful!

How did you make them?

@lavelle: Thanks! They're not too difficult to make, but if I told you, that would take the fun out of it in case I decide to make them to sell ;)

wow. the tiles are cool :D i like them a lot. maybe you can make smaller ones so you can sell it and shipping them won't be so hard..?

or maybe use the same technique on a different thing that could work as well? i can't think of anything but i'm sure you can!

The tiles are fantastic and so special I definitely think you can sell them on Etsy, people don´t mind paying extra for shipping when it is this special:)

Love everything! Especially the tiles (never seen those before). Plus, I would love to know how you made those cards/books :)

Tiles are so pretty! They'd make perfect wall decor for the house I don't have. Definitely curious about the process of making them as well.

@vintageveggie & Abby: Thanks, glad you like them :) although I can't reveal the process in case I decide to sell them-it would be like a chef revealing his/her recipe!
@Kathleen Rhea G.: The cards are really easy to make. I use thick cardstock paper for the base, then layer with decorative paper on top (which you can get at any craft store). The lace white border on the side is made from a lace puncher (again, something you can get at any craft store). And then the bird is a stamp. So this is basically the process of all my cards, just with different colors and papers and stamps.

i like the tiles a lot and agree with notebook doodles that maybe you can make smaller ones? I've seen ppl make tiles into key chains but without pictures printed on. if you could make sthg like that i would make it so much more interesting!

you said you want to see my photos so I went for a walk yesterday and took some and now's on my blog!! :]

it would be very great if you would come check it out and give me some advice on my blog and my photos! MUCH THANKS (in advance)

That stuff is all so cute! The floral background is also very pretty (a bit off the subject, sorry!)

I love the first tile, the picture is exquisite.

i like notebook doodles's idea - maybe you could experiment with the tile technique on different surfaces. i think muslin or canvas fabric or natural/white painted wood might work well, and would be much lighter to ship!

(though the tiny tile pendant idea is awesome, too.)
