Take me home where the watermelons grow

Monday, June 28, 2010
You know what's really fun (besides stalking people on facebook, which of course is the best thing to do when you have nothing better to do)? Browsing through peoples' homes on the Flickr. I love peeking into people's bedrooms and seeing how they decorate and their personal style. Which makes me want to pretty up my own room which is so blah right now I haven't done anything with it in a while. I'm *hoping* to try to get some things done I've been pushing off for a while now today, perhaps!
Take me home
Take me home
Umm... pretty white balloons in a pretty white bedroom? Yes please!
Take me home
Take me home
Oh yeah and of course a pretty girl in a pretty room makes the room all the prettier!
Take me home
Those bookshelves and bookshelves of books! Holy moly. What a room. What a room.

I can't decide if I like plain and simple (mostly white everything) or lots of florals, lace, and color.

P.S. Title comes from a childhood song I used to sing. Can't remember the name of it though...

Oh I'd be so happy in the room with all the books! I thought it was 'take me home, where the buffalo roam'? Or am I confused with another song? Easily done!

I need to start by cleaning my room :P
I like all of them really. I think simple is too hard to keep clean if you have too much stuff like me. Also, they don't really look lived in or personalised.
Eclectic is the new minimalist!

I love the room with all the books but I'd be worried about them falling on my head!!

Facebook stalking - my favourite pastime! :D

I love all the books but my favourite room has to be the third picture, I love the grannyesque feel to it (:

@Tonia: No, it's not that song, although I've heard of that too. It goes like 'Down by the banks, where the watermelon grows, back to my home, I dare not go.' So it's technically not the true, lyrics, just inspired the title haha!
@See Hear Say: I've posted some pictures of my room a few times, but I also have them on Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41318257@N07/4118483883/in/set-72157623375076122/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/41318257@N07/4017957308/in/set-72157623375076122/. I'm planning on doing another post on it once I pretty up my room and make some things for it!

And I might have to tie some string over my bed and get some clothes pegs....

I completely agree! I love scanning rooms & finding inspiration :) I wish I had a bookshelf wall filled with all my books and shoes. That would be just darling!

I so desperately want a desk that looks like the one in the third picture.. the room with all the books looks lovely as well, but I would be constantly afraid that books will fall down when I am sleeping, so I will never ever try this, sadly.

I'm always wondering how people's houses look like inside! I watched this movie once, where there was this guy getting secretly into people's houses in Korea and tiding them up as a hobby, and I had thought he was quite lucky for doing that XD
I totally love the room under the one with the balloons!

With my luck all those books would fall on me while I was sleeping. I'd have them on the opposite side of the room! haha

gorgeous rooms!

i completely agree with you about decorating style. i love the all white minimialist look and i equally love the vintage, colourful, 'lived in' look! im still deciding which style will win for our new house!

I think I like the 'busy' ones best. Especially with wallpaper and lace.

I used to sing that song when I was little, too. I remember the next bit goes, "Cos if I do, my mother will say" and then something silly. :)It's a Raffi song: Down by the Bay.

Ahh, I love looking at all the little nick nacks people have collected over the course of their lives and put on display in their rooms. I think it gives so much character and it just looks really cool

ahh Down by the Bay! I love that song, its so fun to visualize. Did you ever see a bear combing his hair? Did you ever see a moose kissing a goose? Did you ever see a whale with a polka dot tail!? hehehe thats my favorite one
