Floating roses in glistening waters

Some photos from my weekend:
Daisy Patch
A patch of daisies I found while walking my dog. Seriously, this is where I find all my nice photoshoot spots-by walking my dog around town! (took this picture through mah sunglasses woot woot!)

A beautiful sunset from my house:
Sunset
Annnnd I did a photo shoot with the dried up roses! (yay!) My mom kept teasing me, saying instead of 'still life photography' it was 'still dead'. Thanks for the support, mom! I pretty much died when I saw how the sunlight was reflecting on the water. Ahhh gorgeous. I hope you don't get bored with my constant ramblings about good lighting!
Floating roses
Dear Neighbor, if you are reading this, hello there! Didn't think your dead roses would show up on an inspiration blog, did ya? Better yet, didn't think someone would pick them off the side of the road and use them for a photo shoot?

Other things I did this weekend:
  • 12 mile (about 19 kilometers) group run along the beach
  • Had amazing AMAZING fried rice at this awesome restaurant
  • Polished my nails for the first time in months (and also discovered i'm the world's messiest nail polisher!)
  • Finished reading Half Broke Horses (which was really good, but not as good as the glass castle-the other book the author wrote-in my opinion)
  • Went to a dinner party with friends
  • Cleaned out my computer desktop (finally! i was starting to not be able to see anything on the desktop because everything was on top of each other! ahh i feel so organized now)

  • Tell me, what did you do this weekend?

Ya know I think the idea of taking pictures through things is a great idea! i guess that is another option for filters huh! I have a teacher that uses white silk for covering flashes I like that idea too! I got a few great pics this weekend too! check it out on my blog

I'm impressed by all you managed to fit in! Spent my weekend learning to cook Moroccan food, eating outdoors and finishing off a craft project - that'll do!

@Trina S. I LOVE experimenting with different things as filters. My old photo teacher said that you can get a nice dreamy effect if you use vasaline (which I think some photographers do) but I've always been too scared to try in case I messed up my lens! I have to try the white silk idea too.

I'll definitely check out your pics!

I'm still learning how to use a digital camera (give me a break, I'm going on 82) We're going on a one month cruise in two weeks - should I take an extra "what do you call them" inserts in case I run out of "film"?
I have been creating a butterfly garden, but the drought of three months killed the ground cover. so I start again using drought resistan plants this time.

@rachel!: hah, i'm not always that productive! this weekend was one of the rare occasions that i actually get a lot done. most other weekends are spent in pjs and procrastinating!

@Reading up a storm: a digital camera is really easy to use once you get the hang of it! i'm still trying to learn film :)
yes, definitely take memory sticks in case you run out of film.

Ooo I love these photos, especially the first one :). It was very clever to use your sunnies. On the weekend I went to the shops with my friend, apart from that, not much.
Thanks heaps for the links btw :).

@Sarj: It was on the sidewalk and roads next to the beach haha. It would be really hard to run on sand!
