renegade craft fair.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Went to the Renegade Craft Fair in SF on Saturday. It was pretty awesome to say the least. Artsy affairs in San Francisco make for interesting findings.

I was very tempted to channel my inner nerd and get my face painted, but I chickened out in the end.

A view of craft fair when you first walk in.

Another view of the craft fair.

Beautiful aprons from Rustbelt Fiberworks...I ended up buying one that was reversible, so I made myself feel better by reasoning it was really $12 instead of $24, since it was essentially two aprons in one.

Photographed lots and lots of the artists. They were all so sweet they let me take a picture of them:

And I'm so sorry, but I carelessly forgot to pick up a business card from most of the artists, so if you are an artist featured on here without a credit, please, please email me or comment on my blog and tell me your store's name. I feel awful now that I can't provide a link to your site.

She also had these adorable little gingerbread men:

renegade6.jpg

Ran into the lovely owner of the beautiful blog Oh Hello Friend (such a gorgeous name). Such a pleasure to actually see her in person. She was the cutest little thing.

Jen (left) and Chris (right), the people I went with.

I bought the reversible apron, which is pictured somewhere above, and these rings from Rag Trader:

Oh and I also got this journal made out of an old, vintage book made by Ex Libris Anonymous.

I was thinking of using it as a photo album for my dog, Aubrey since it fits perfectly.

Was anyone else at the craft fair last weekend?

I know it's a little late, but what did you guys do this weekend?

xoxo,
Micaela

Oh, so many pretty things to look at! Makes me miss living in the Bay Area.

At least we have our green trees - they're pretty too :)

This weekend I went with my boyfriend and hiked through (through, not next to) a creek all the way up to a hidden waterfall in a little grotto. It was beautiful!
I love artsy craft fairs. You find the most interesting items!

Awwwww...Aubrey is adorable, and I love his name, so cute, it suits him perfectly. That's a great idea to make the vintage book into an album for him. I'm going to look out for something similar and steal your idea for my dog. It would be lovely to see some pics of the album if you do it.

Oh, that looks absolutely wonderful! We never have fairs like that around here, sadly. I think those rings, the apron and that journal you bought are really nice - and indeed perfect as an album for your dog (what a cutie!).

Yes, I am a vegan - more or less. I am less stringent about it when I visit other people though, and will eat dairy and eggs then. Though the vegan sushi was bad, ick.

well basically, i would make you five items, but in return, you have to post it on your blog and make five items for the first five people to say they would like to participate on your blog. you can probably make the amount of people smaller if you want. i hope that explained it a bit more. it''s sort of a chain thing in a way.

the craft fair looks absolutely amazing to me. nothing is better than the handmade one :) and it's nice to see how all the talented people gathered together. I wish there's something similar here too.

I am going to take a good rest for this weekend :) (have been running around for the whole week..)

I love getting my face painted. I'm such a dork, when I got my face painted with my friend we each got pears painted on our faces so we were a 'pair of pears'.
Thankyou so much for your comments!

Hey, this poem made me think of you :)

The Swan

Did you too see it, drifting, all night, on the black river?
Did you see it in the morning, rising into the silvery air -
An armful of white blossoms,
A perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned
into the bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies,
Biting the air with its black beak?
Did you hear it, fluting and whistling
A shrill dark music - like the rain pelting the trees - like a waterfall
Knifing down the black ledges?
And did you see it, finally, just under the clouds -
A white cross Streaming across the sky, its feet
Like black leaves, its wings Like the stretching light of the river?
And did you feel it, in your heart, how it pertained to everything?
And have you too finally figured out what beauty is for?
And have you changed your life?

--Mary Oliver

or maybe you've already posted it!
