An ocean apart but still close to my heart

(lona found via reality escapes her.)

Don't you just love these photos? Everything looks like it came out of a childrens' book (did you notice the view from the window of the second photo?!) The photos are of the Netherlands-oh how I desperately want to go there! Air fare is just too expensive :(
So for now I'll just have to travel vicariously through her Flickr photostream.

I know a husband & wife who temporarily moved to Amsterdam for six months because of the husband's job (I should have hid in their luggage!)

I stumbled upon a pretty pretty little cottage house with a field of poppies in the front yard while out walking last week. I'm seriously considering taking pictures of it, but then I'm afraid the owners will be home and see me and be upset. Wouldn't be the first time I got yelled at for taking pictures of other peoples' stuff, though!

I love the Netherlands. I lived there for a year and dream someday to return to one of the smaller villages and live out my days wandering through those adorable streets.

Thank you for sharing these fabulous photos!

Amsterdam is my dream place to live! When I visited I stared at the large windowed apartments, dreaming of my fantasy life sitting and reading looking upon the canals. Thanks for the photos! Simply beautiful!!!

the pictures are absolutely dreamy! i love them, and i will just sit and watch them for awhile now.
i also have some houses and buildings which i just love to look at - especially one. i too was very frighten that they would get upset and yell at me, but one day i just went out and partly hiding took some pictrues of the house and they didnt see me :) i think it is better to try then to procrastinate it :)

Yes, Amsterdam is a wonderful place! I have to admit that I live in the Netherlands and that I'm going to study in Amstermdam. I DO love Amsterdam, but there are just more beautiful places and cities in the world you sillies!
Or maybe I'm just saying that because it's not that special to me anymore!

I've been to Amsterdam once and fell completely in love with it. I didn't get to travel around to outer parts of the city or other smaller towns but I desparately want to go back and do that!!! Someday...

Just knock and ask and offer them free copies. I bet they will be flattered. My mum always wonders why people always stop at her garden gate. She doesn't get that her garden is beautiful to others and not just her! Good luck xx
